Sharon, along with her mom Judy and her friend Cindy (aka, "The Three Moscatos") just came back from ladies-only Eastern Caribbean cruise aboard the Ruby Princess. In spite of rather windy conditions (and hence slightly rough seas) the first few days, Cindy (on her first ever cruise) took to life aboard a ship like a duck takes to water! An amazing time was had by all - whether in port or on board in the dining room (to quote Judy, a somewhat finicky eater - "I can always get food just the way I want it!"). After an overnight at the fabulous Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Florida, our intrepid Moscatos voyaged as follows:
Eastern Caribbean Cruise
Day 1 - Embark in Ft. Lauderdale Day 2 - Princess Cays Day 3 - Sea Day Day 4 - St. Martin/Sint Maarten Day 5 - St. Thomas Day 6 - Grand Turk Day 7 - Sea Day Day 8 - Disembark in Ft. Lauderdale
We took our second family cruise over New Year's week to other parts of the Southern Caribbean aboard the Caribbean Princess. Our itinerary and adventures were:
Classic Southern Caribbean
1. San Juan, Puerto Rico 2. St. Thomas - Where Sharon and Mark kayaked through mangroves and snorkeled with baby baracudas. 3. Tortola - Where Sharon swam with dolphins!! 4. Antigua - Where Sharon and Mark went ziplining - fun until the last 5 seconds! 5. St. Lucia - Where we are going to just chill. 6. Barbados - Where got down...way down...underground in caves! 7. At Sea 8. San Juan, Puerto Rico
We took our first family cruise to the Southern Caribbean aboard the Caribbean Princess in March 2010. Our itinerary and adventures were:
Southern Caribbean Explorer
1. San Juan, Puerto Rico - Strolling through Old San Juan and visiting El Morro 2. St. Thomas - Racing America's Cup style yachts 3. Dominica - Hiking to waterfalls and swimming in champagne 4. Grenada - Hiking to a volcanic lake 5. Bonaire - Land sailing just like on the Amazing Race (it was REALLY AMAZING and the highlight of the trip!!!!) 6. Aruba - Catching some rays and ocean kayaking on Palm Beach 7. At Sea 8. San Juan, Puerto Rico

Sharon and Mark's first cruise together on Princess was a 10 night Baltic highlights cruise on the Crown Princess. The ship was truly lovely, never seemed crowded, and the shore excursions were very well run. We highly recommend the itinerary. We arrived a few days early in Copenhagen to adjust to the time zones, see the city and make sure our luggage made the trip. We would definitely recommend arriving at least one day early which allows you to then leisurely head to the ship. Princess recommended waiting until 1pm or later to arrive (boarding began at 11am), which we did. We got to the port a few minutes before 1pm and breezed through check in and were onboard and in our cabin in under 30 minutes.
The highlighted links below take you to the pages on our site where you can learn about each port we visited.
Here are some photos of the beautiful Crown Princess:
Sharon's first trip on Princess was in May, 2004 on the lovely Caribbean Princess, in an Oceanview Double with Balcony. The itinerary for the cruise was a nice blend of sea days and port days. If you would like to learn more about the ship, this link will take you to the official Princess site for the ship: Caribbean Princess
The cabin provided plenty of space, and having a balcony is highly recommended. On a ship this large it is nice to be able to have your own private "piece of sky" anytime you want, and is also a fantastic place to have breakfast (yes, you can order room service on your balcony).
